Berlin Airlift
When tensions rose as the United States made it clear they didn't support the spread of Communism, The Soviet Union wanted all of Berlin to themselves. To try and gain control of Berlin they set The Berlin Blockade cutting off supplies to the city. To help the over two million citizens there, without fighting the Russians, they decided to send an airlift of food and supplies. The Russians believed they would give up, but the United States and Great Britain sent in 2.3 million tons over ten months. Finally the Russians stopped the blockade and they could stop the airlift.
